Paddle, Pedal, Learn
County Leitrim, is a natural treasure trove. Home to Slow Adventure, this corner of the North West of Ireland brings you unexplored landscapes. It also brings you the Shannon Blueway with its hidden secrets and natural beauty. On this Slow Adventure, you will discover the Leitrim Waterways from within.
Your adventure will begin at the historic and beautiful Battlebridge where you will meet your guide Lee from The Leitrim Surf Company. Lee will provide a guided Stand-Up Paddle Adventure of the waterway taking time to share his knowledge of the river and its banks with you. Your trip will immerse you in nature while you forage as you go, making your way to your destination; the scenic Acres Lake in Drumshanbo with its floating boardwalk and marina.
On arrival at Acres Lake you will take a short stroll to the family run Jinny’s Tea Rooms where you will relax and enjoy a slow food lunch with homemade products fresh from their bakery.
Following your lunch, your adventure continues as you explore the Shannon Blueway, this time by bicycle. Your return journey to Battlebridge provides a whole new experience as you cycle along the floating boardwalk and onto the Blueway for the 6.5km cycle. Like every slow adventure, you will be surrounded by nature as you will travel at a slower pace. It’s not about getting from A to B, it’s about everything in between. It’s about seeing, engaging, learning, enjoying and being. It’s about allowing yourself to be and to take it all in, this is what lasting memories are built on.
